Privacy Policy

Aklaim is made and run by me, Oren, through my company Rayvox Limited, which is responsible for your data under UK data protection law. Questions go to the contact form or support+aklaim@rayvox.co.uk.

• Your account: email address, password, username and name, and if you add them, a photo, bio, date of birth, gender and country. Only the email address and username are needed; the rest is up to you.
• What you log: the shows you’ve seen and want to see, ratings, visits, Moments (photos, captions and tags), follows, Applause, achievements, and shows you add to the catalogue.
• Premium: whether your subscription is active and when it renews. Payment is taken by the app store or a web payment provider; Aklaim never sees your card details.
• Technical details: like any website, Aklaim’s servers log basic details of each visit, such as your IP address and browser, to keep it working and secure. Aklaim only uses the cookies and browser storage it needs to work: to keep you signed in and remember small choices. None are for advertising or tracking.

Messages You Send

Bug reports, suggestions, show requests and messages from the contact form, with your email address and name if you give them, so I can reply. The contact form runs an automated check to keep out spam.

Aklaim is for people aged 13 and over.

• Public profile (the default): anyone, including people who aren’t signed in and search engines, can see your name, username, photo and bio, your shows, ratings, stats, achievements and Moments. Public Moments may also appear on this website and in Aklaim’s own posts and promotion.
• Private profile (switch off Settings → Public profile): only your name and photo show.
• Never shown to anyone: your email address, date of birth, gender, country and subscription.
• Share links you make can be opened by anyone who has them.

Each use needs a legal reason (a “lawful basis”). Running your account relies on our agreement, the terms. Everything else relies on legitimate interests: things a service like Aklaim reasonably needs to do, weighed against your privacy.

• Running your account and everything you ask Aklaim to do, including Premium.
• Recommending shows and working out your stats.
• Keeping Aklaim safe: stopping spam and abuse, and automatically checking uploaded images.
• Answering your reports and messages, and improving the show catalogue.
• Email updates: occasional news about Aklaim. They’re on when you join; switch them off in Settings → Email updates or with the link in any of them.
• Promoting Aklaim with Moments from public profiles, for example in social media posts. Ask and I’ll take yours down.

Anonymous Statistics

Aklaim combines what members log into statistics about shows and their audiences: which shows the same people love, how a show’s audience breaks down by age group, gender or region, and so on. Your date of birth, gender and country may be counted in them, though never shown. These statistics only describe groups large enough that no one can be picked out, never include names, usernames or anyone’s individual records, and may be shared with or sold to others, such as theatres and producers. If you’d rather not be counted, tell me.

• Companies that help run Aklaim: hosting and database, email delivery, subscriptions and payments, image checking and spam protection. They use your data only to provide that service.
• If the law requires it, or to protect Aklaim and its members.
• If Aklaim is ever sold, its new owner, under this policy.

Some of these companies are in the United States or elsewhere outside the UK. Where data goes abroad, it’s protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as adequacy regulations or standard contract clauses. Ask me for details.

Ticket links on some shows are affiliate links. Aklaim sends the seller nothing about you; once you’re on their site, their own policies apply.

The shop at merch.aklaim.co.uk runs on an online shop platform, which hosts the shop and its checkout.

• When you order: your name, email address, delivery and billing addresses, phone number if you give one, and what you bought. You can also make a shop account.
• Payment is taken at checkout by the shop’s payment providers. Aklaim never sees your card details.
• Why: to make, send and support your order (our agreement), and to keep the records tax law requires.
• Shared with the shop platform, the print partner that prints and posts each order, and the delivery company.
• Cookies: the shop platform sets its own for your basket and checkout, and asks before setting any others.
• Shop emails only if you tick the box at checkout, with an unsubscribe link in each.

• Your account and everything you log: until you delete it, or delete your account.
• Photo files: a deleted Moment or profile photo leaves Aklaim at once, and its image file is deleted the following night.
• Reports and messages: as long as I need them. If you delete your account they stay, no longer linked to it. Ask and I’ll delete yours.
• Shows you add stay in the catalogue, no longer linked to you.
• Shop orders: as long as tax law requires (six years in the UK).
• Server logs and backups: a few weeks.
• Anonymous statistics: kept, since they can’t identify anyone.

You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, take it elsewhere, or object to or limit how it’s used. Most of it you can change or delete yourself in the app. Otherwise, ask through the contact form or at support+aklaim@rayvox.co.uk, from the address on your account. I’ll reply within a month.

If you’re unhappy with how your data is handled, please tell me first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change affects how your data is used, I’ll tell you in the app or by email before it applies.
